Description
This session will explore the tool for automatic generation of 3D rebar shop drawing utilizing Revit. The tool uses parametric modeling to create complicated rebar shop drawings twice as fast as conventional methods. When applied to a diaphragm wall of the subway project, the tool achieved a labor cost reduction of 150,000 USD. In addition, the speeding up of the shop drawing creation process enabled a more rational design with more detailed design cross-sections, and a 10% reduction in rebar material compared to the initial design. To improve the efficiency of the subsequent rebar processing process, trials are underway to link rebar information in Revit with rebar processing machines.
In large-scale infrastructure projects, activities related to reinforcement (such as drawing, fabrication, and assembly) significantly impact the schedules and costs. This tool is expected to contribute to solving human resource issues and to sustainability by reducing material losses.
