With recent advances in generative models, many industries must adapt to offer more-intuitive solutions to interact with their expert software. The challenge ahead is to combine this expert knowledge with artificial intelligence (AI) to include more-natural ways of interacting with our tools while remaining precise and controllable. In this talk, we will discuss our solution to achieve this for content creation in Maya software. We'll present a high-level overview of the architecture to better understand the integration of the Microsoft Azure OpenAI services in our product. Then, we will discuss how we improved the inference model bridging the gap between research and production. We'll also show a demo of our plug-in in Maya software on a complex scene. You'll leave this session knowing how to prepare a proper data set for code generation from prompt, how to design a structured context improving the accuracy of the generated response, and how to maximize custom embeddings to handle more-complex use cases.

Affordable construction is a serious problem that affects us all, and we face a growing housing shortage in the 21st century. It's widely believed that prefabrication and industrialized construction are strategies that can help the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry produce buildings much faster, less expensively, and of higher quality than traditional on-site construction methods. When done right, prefabrication delivers clear benefits to multifamily housing and hotels, but also comes with risks. The right issues must be de-risked to ensure project success, centered on establishing a digital fabrication approach of Rooms as a Product (RaaP). With RaaP, we can enable industrialized construction by connecting teams, processes, and partners. We give developers access to a vetted prefab ecosystem, standardized documents, and a modular certified process to manage workflows. We also digitize the fabricators' pipeline of orders to increase predictability and lower costs to support mass customization.

This class will discuss the uses of Revit families, data, scheduling, and the Revit API to push Revit content to the prefabrication factory floor. We'll discuss what goes into the families, how we condition the families for prefabrication-specific content, and how we pull that content out with custom tools to send to the factory floor. We'll cover the main issues of communication between the design team and the prefabrication team, how we've solved these issues, what we output for the team, and how they use it to create the preconstruction packages.

VINCI developed an Autodesk Platform Services-powered hub that connects Autodesk tools within a unified and ergonomic web environment. VINCI is still accelerating the harnessing of Autodesk technologies to supply customized tools for internal needs and strategy. First, we will present the new Autodesk Platform Services integration that enables automation using Autodesk Platform Services along with open-source technologies, a perfect combination to achieve VINCI's inclusive digital transformation. Additionally, we will give insights into how these technologies simplify building information modeling (BIM) integration at various organizational levels, fostering on-site collaboration and cross-organizational efficiency. Then, we will present the project ROI and discuss its role in overcoming industry fragmentation and lack of productivity. An often-overlooked sustainability challenge in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry is: What should we do with all existing individual houses? Current technology enables sustainable design of new houses. However, climate change cannot be addressed without tackling the existing building stock. More than 62 million single-family houses need thorough renovation if we are to fulfill the EU climate ambitions by 2050. This means tackling 6,000 houses per day, starting today—in Europe alone! We'll demonstrate how artificial intelligence (AI), and generative design will support building owners and architects to quickly come up with new sustainable design options, ready for industrialized prefabrication with standardized elements. In this session, you'll learn how AI can add flexibility in the design with standardized elements. You'll find inspiration for a new balance between standardization and flexibility. We'll show applications for detached houses as well as terraced houses with complex shapes and requirements.

Mandai Bird Park Project is an innovative sustainable-construction initiative in Singapore designed to create Asia's largest bird park in a 23-hectaire nature reserve. The design consists of eight massive walk-through aviaries inspired by diverse habitats, 20-meter-tall waterfalls, and an 84-meter-long archway. As part of the Environmental Management and Monitoring Plan, the team had to keep in mind sustainability and preservation goals to minimize changes to the original landscape topology, preserve existing flora and fauna, and replicate a tropical landscape incorporated within the architecture. This intensified the overall construction complexity. The class will show how we fully used building information modeling (BIM) as a single source of truth, reality capture. and cloud platforms, including drone mapping, laser scanning, and 3D surface modeling with Revit, Navisworks, Dynamo, and ReCap software throughout the virtual design and construction (VDC) implementation. This saved us 30% in survey costs, achieved 100% reuse of excavated soil, and prevented the aviaries from clashing with the trees.

Transitioning from AutoCAD to Revit presents challenges and new learning curves. While it might seem that embracing Revit means leaving AutoCAD behind and disconnecting from industry peers who still use it, this perspective is not entirely proper. Both software tools can coexist, and Autodesk is at the forefront of industry evolution, ensuring smooth and conscious transitions. You can incorporate AutoCAD details into your Revit project using various methods, including long-term, mid-term, and temporary solutions. Some approaches are more effective than others and may even lead to issues. We will guide you through a step-by-step process to efficiently utilize existing AutoCAD details and convert them seamlessly into Revit. We will outline the most efficient approach to utilize AutoCAD architectural backgrounds for MEP modeling, harnessing the full potential of these two software tools working in tandem. Prior Revit knowledge is desired.

Four years ago, a major fire broke out in Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral. The French government has given the rebuild five years. To meet the key outcomes around schedule, health, and safety, the project has coordinated the daily presence of various types of workers specialized in restoration activities (archaeologists, carpenters, stone cutters, and so on). This class will focus on how Setec Opency (specializing in construction management) has digitized the execution planning process using 4D building information modeling (BIM) and digital technology, integrating the work sequencing and the opportunity of planning optimization, while minimizing the risk of accidents. Setec Opency will show how it has taken into account multiple constraints: tight deadlines, the configuration of a historical building (large volume, 4,800 square meters, great height), 120 subcontractors, and 400 workers over nine construction phases costing hundreds of millions of euros. This session will be a presentation of structural cast-in-place concrete modeling with Revit software. It will include a short description of how design documentation is taken and built into a "constructable” concrete model in Revit, as well as showing the steps taken to make the model "field friendly." You will see how the model is transported into a field layout tool from Leica Geosystems to be used as a 3D layout tool, minimizing the need for annotated line drawings and PDFs.
