This session will look at the full parametrization of an automated rebar modeling and drawing extraction used for infrastructure projects using Civil 3D, Revit, and Dynamo. This idea advances the automation of building information modeling (BIM) for bridge and tunnel reinforcement by developing a novel workflow in Germany's most progressive state, THE LÄND. Using a parametric template for rebars, the study integrates Dynamo, facilitating the automatic generation of intelligent models and rebar schedules. This method was successfully applied to real, large-scale, bridge and tunnel projects, demonstrating its effectiveness. The workflow enables automatic extraction of detailed rebar drawings and annotations. By streamlining project execution and enhancing data coherence, this integrated approach significantly improves BIM lifecycle management for infrastructure construction. The underlying ontology connecting normative requirements, FE results, and our long-term experience is the final step on our road map for an AI-based reinforcement generation.

Arup has made a significant commitment to sustainability in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry by pledging to conduct whole life carbon assessments (WLCA) for all its building projects. This initiative is part of a broader industry movement toward responsible resource management and sustainable development. The creation of "Zero," a digital platform for carbon assessment, reflects Arup's dedication to influencing design practices and decision making toward the reduction of carbon emissions. The platform benefits from data gathered from 1,000+ projects worldwide, and has been showcased at the Global Building Forum. This session will provide an overview of collaborative efforts (including those with Autodesk) aimed at standardizing a WLCA data schema and methodologies; resolving disparities between global and local carbon data sources' using digital technology to capture, store, and enhance data quality; and extracting design recommendations from data analytics to promote global sustainability efforts.

This session will cover the adventure of electromechanical designs with lifecycles that started with AutoCAD Electrical software and Inventor synchronization and extended to architectural projects. The data synchronized with AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor software can be managed with Vault software and Autodesk Construction Cloud. It can be defined as 3D BIM content—electrical connector in Inventor and transferred to Revit. Through the collaboration of Autodesk Construction Cloud and Vault, we can share both Revit and Inventor data with colleagues in different departments, edit them, and publish the final versions.

Using Power Automate, project management tasks in Autodesk Construction Cloud are automated, reducing team members' workloads. Additionally, in family creation, collaboration with domestic equipment manufacturers facilitates semiautomated creation of families with manufacturer specifications. Revit 2023 software has completely overhauled the analytical modeling workflow. Now the physical and analytical models have the freedom to act independently. The analytical model elements must be created separately from the physical structure; however, you can still "link" them together. This ultimately gives better control over the analytical model and what it is allowed to represent. These changes are drastic, but don't worry. We're here to help explain how it all works, and have you give it a try in this hands-on lab. You don't need to be a structural engineer or a Revit structural modeler, because we'll show you how you could use the Revit analytical elements to help in the creation of physical walls, physical beams, and many other fun creations. In this lab, we'll also show you how to create your own workflows using Dynamo to customize the automation of the creation of the analytical elements.

This presentation will revolve around a large industrial project to demonstrate the data workflow from design through construction, as well as the site data gathering for data visualization. By using the following software platforms—BIM 360 software, Assemble, BIM Track, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Power BI—the information from this project’s different components is visualized and combined in Power BI. Dax and M language in Power BI are utilized to manipulate raw data. Metric-based results in Power BI dashboards are organized tab by tab in accordance with different analytical functionality. We’ll give detailed examples to represent the information cross-referencing between the disciplines. This presentation will help different stakeholders track the progress of projects from qualitative and quantitative perspectives based on locations.

Challenging the deconstruction and decontamination of a former industrial site: the refinery of Dunkerque in France. From a huge data sets of 30 000 old plans and a dynamic scan of a 90Ha area, the low LOD Revit models were made manually but also automatically using IA with image recognition. The representations of the contamination and lithology is modelled with voxels and informed using interpolation scripts with Dynamo directly from georeferenced boreholes stored in excel datasheets. The aim of this BIM model is to create scenariis of depollution depending of what is located underground : pipes, concrete and pollutants.

Andrew Cameron, project manager with Hensel Phelps, will share his insights from pioneering 360-degree reality capture on his project, the $1.2 billion Harvey Milk Terminal 1 at the San Francisco International Airport, since 2016. He and his team of 16 field engineers have worked closely with HoloBuilder over the last three years to invent and build out many of the workflows and features that are essential on tens of thousands of construction sites around the world today, including 360-degree markups and the JobWalk app itself. He will discuss how to use 360-degree documentation to drive value on a billion-dollar project for the client, stakeholders, and his project team. He will also share his experiences of how to successfully partner with construction technology providers to build the technologies you always wanted. To highlight the team’s successful innovation partnership, he will reveal the latest co-developed solutions to speed up and even automate reality capture on projects.

Road infrastructure consists of many simple elements—road signs, traffic barriers, traffic lights, and so on. Creating and placing them separately in large infrastructure projects can be very labor intensive. In this technical presentation, we’ll demonstrate how to automate the creation of an intelligent model for road infrastructure using Dynamo scripts and universal Revit families. This class will teach you how to organize a geographic information system (GIS) system of a traffic management plan in Civil 3D software and effectively transfer it to an InfraWorks model. Learn how to set up an effective link between a 2D plan and the consolidated intelligent model in accordance with the information embedded in the vector objects. We’ll also cover the creation of parametric barriers in Inventor software for InfraWorks, and how to apply parametric barriers for component roads in InfraWorks. See a demonstration of the Dynamo script that places barriers on the appropriate position in the consolidated model in accordance with the attributes of the barrier’s points from the 2D plan.
