    Description

With parametric and AI-based tools accelerating design iteration, architects now face a new challenge: Our ability to generate ideas outpaces our capacity to meaningfully analyze them. This session will introduce a novel workflow that bridges Rhino software’s modeling speed with Forma software’s cloud-based analysis, automating the process of evaluating design iterations in the background as architects continue modeling. We'll demonstrate how automatically pushing variants from Rhino into Forma allows design alternatives to be analyzed across parameters—and how this approach, combined with AI-assisted sorting and filtering, creates a powerful decision-making framework with the potential to reduce evaluation time from days to hours. Teams can comprehensively organize and explore dozens or even hundreds of design options instead of the typical handful, resulting in an early design process that’s more data-informed while maintaining creative momentum.

    Key Learnings

    • Learn how to implement a workflow connecting Rhino to Forma for automatic background analysis of design iterations.
    • Learn how to configure analysis parameters in Forma to evaluate design alternatives across multiple performance criteria.
    • Learn best practices for capturing and labeling design iterations so teams can revisit, reproduce, and build on promising variants.
    • Learn how to apply AI-assisted filtering techniques to identify optimal solutions from large sets of analyzed design options.
