Description
In this class, we discuss how we implemented AutoCAD Utility Design software at Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU). We cover strategies for implementing the software to include processes, from design to asset realization. We cover AutoCAD Utility Design standardization, uniform processes and data flow, and how we incorporated them into upstream and downstream workflows to produce reliable engineering designs. CSU is also implementing the system for gas distribution design.
Key Learnings
- Identify standards needed to support and implement AutoCAD Utility Design for electrical distribution design
- Describe the workflow of a utility that is implementing AutoCAD Utility Design 2014 for electrical design
- Design a conceptual model to support a computerized maintenance management system, field inventory, GIS, and billings systems
- Construct and use engineering information for downstream and upstream system integration
