Description
Current AI assistants for Revit software typically operate within a single application. This class will explore a different approach by creating a custom AI assistant that can interact with Revit and other programs simultaneously using a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. The assistant can be extended to interact with additional tool applications to help solve interoperability. When creating a custom AI assistant, the available actions are defined explicitly. You'll configure which Revit functions are exposed to the assistant and which are not. For example, you can restrict commands that delete elements, remove views, or make unwanted model changes. No prior AI or server development experience is necessary.
Key Learnings
- Learn how to create a custom AI assistant connected to Revit using an MCP server.
- Learn how to configure the assistant to interact with Revit and additional programs at the same time.
- Learn how to define and control which Revit functions the assistant is allowed to access.
- Learn how to restrict unwanted actions such as unintentional element deletion or model modification.
