Construction is a labor-intensive process in the physical world. Building information modeling (BIM) has tried to take the construction industry by storm, but from its introduction a few decades ago, we’re still not seeing the expected level of adoption. One major challenge to getting the full value out of your coordinated BIM is the complexity in translating that which has been done in BIM into the field—the physical world. With CAD and PDFs, every construction instruction is now digital—why can’t the field take advantage of BIM? In this presentation, we’ll discuss some of the issues that have held firms back from extracting full value from BIM. We’ll explore how construction robotics can unlock that value, and we’ll consider what’s to come! On-site construction robotics provides the ability to connect the digital world to the physical world.
