Amplifying creativity and accelerating development in automotive design with AI
AI could revolutionize the future of automotive design. Voho Seo of Kia and Ye Wang of Autodesk Research share insights from their year-long collaboration with Kia designers, exploring how generative AI can transform the early design process. They discuss the importance of making the design-to-production process faster and more efficient, particularly in the evolving landscape of electric vehicles (EVs). By integrating AI, designers can break free from traditional constraints, amplifying creativity and navigating complex decisions with greater ease. This collaboration highlighted AI's ability to generate vast numbers of design variations rapidly, enabling designers to evaluate and refine concepts more efficiently. The ultimate goal is to blend AI seamlessly into the design workflow, maintaining creativity and diversity while significantly accelerating the development of innovative products.
About the speakers
Voho Seo, AI Lead Designer at KIA Global Design, has been with KIA for the past 15 years expanding his boundaries from interior design, product planning, 3D digital surfacing, and design strategy. He collaborated with Autodesk Research on AI in automotive design, specifically on AI wheel design solution.
Ye Wang, a Senior Principal Research Scientist at Autodesk Research, specializes in AI for design creativity, design justice, and design knowledge transfer. Wang has contributed to the creation of successful 3D printing design tools and played a key role in one of the earliest cloud-based and version-controlled computer-aided design systems. Prior to joining Autodesk Research, she established a company focused on collaboration tools for architecture, engineering, and construction.
