Building Information Modelling (BIM) for Linear Structures started to emerge in different markets. Through the last five years, this field has witnessed huge improvements either by individual personnel or by large engineering firms. Our firm – accordingly – has made a considerable accomplishment through developing coherent in-house workflow tools. These tools work by integrating Civil 3D®, Revit® and Dynamo® through API to automate BIM model creation, which – by its turn – allows for 2D drawings automated extraction. They have been further effectively and successfully applied to real-world projects.

Every person who has worked on an intelligent model in the past 10 years has more than likely been a part of a clash detection session. Navisworks software finds problems among various types of intelligent models by visually displaying them, and has been adapted by numerous contracting firms as a standard practice for coordination. But how can lean principles be applied to turn clash detection into planned coordination, where little or no clashes exist from the beginning? Rodgers has spent years breaking down the traditional clash process in an attempt to eliminate as much process waste as possible. We will show a systematic approach to discipline coordination and how you can modify it for your project. We’ll also show how the lean practice of pull planning is used in the development of coordination schedules. This lean approach reduces cost and time, leading to an efficient way of approaching the clash detection mentality.

In this class we will show you how to use your JavaScript skills to turn the Forge Viewer into a powerful visual reporting tool, giving you access to valuable data associated with each model extracted from the original design file. Connecting your viewing application to external databases and Web APIs to add even richer visualization experience. We will take that a step further by using Forge Model Derivative API: a unique REST API that gives you the ability to access metadata of your designs, download viewable packages or export to various CAD formats. In this class we will show the whole Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflow, from the design and analysis phase, passing from modeling to delivering drawings. Information flows into different processes with no answer. Several times there can be loss of information and a lot of rework. We will show you how to model a project in Revit software in order to be useful for design and analysis; how to place loads and then export the analytical lines and areas to SOFiSTiK FEA; and how to calculate the efforts and then bring it back to Revit software to reinforce the concrete. Finally, the client will want drawings, so with some SOFiSTiK tools we will show how to assemble drawings into sheets quickly and easily, bringing a 3D model to 2D sheets. In this session we will use the example of a 25-story building. We will start with Revit software for the conceptual and design phases, then use SOFiSTiK FEA software for the analysis phase, and finally we’ll turn to Revit software and SOFiSTiK Reinforcement for detailing and documentation

Simulation has come along way from the days when it was used by a few select experts. Today the technology has become more accessible and easier to use. This in turn makes it easier for designers and engineers like you to adopt simulation early on with the design process as this is where it has the most impact. Despite the simulation technology becoming easier to use there remains one fundamental question on the mind of every designer and engineer: How do I know my results are correct? Nastran In-CAD, although easy to use, has a comprehensive set of tools to help you answer this question and make sense of your results. These include mesh convergence, nodal and elemental result plots, section views, and much more including workflows and tips based on industry best practices. The goal of this session is to make you more confident in using Nastran In-CAD and thus help you make better and innovative products within your workplace. This class is for designers and engineers using Inventor with or without any simulation experience. This session will demonstrate real-life design examples using Autodesk Nastran In-CAD 2019.

This class will demonstrate how to use Fusion Production software to streamline the production of CNC parts. Attendees will learn how to set up and configure workcells and workstations using Fusion Production. Attendees will also learn how to track jobs as they are related to manufacturing, and get a visual view of current workloads of the available workcells and workstations. This class will also demonstrate how tasks can be moved from one workcell or workstation to a different workcell or workstation with more capacity.

This is because as it achieves the highest surface quality levels, it demands a high level of automotive design knowledge, as well as surface modeling skills. Class A represents the craftwork end of the design process. Creating the main surface shapes to describe the vehicle is the primary design activity. But the painstaking, detailed craftsmanship of perfecting those surfaces, designing flanges and panel gaps, is what guarantees that a beautiful design turns into a beautiful manufactured product. This class will cover the workflows and techniques involved in achieving Class-A-level production surfaces using the latest Alias tools in 2021.

Users will learn how to capitalize on expressions so when tool changes are made, default values automatically update. We will show how to use equations to control other input fields of an operation. After attending this class, users will understand how to create templates, set defaults, and control toolpaths using expressions and equations to greatly speed up programming, as well as minimize errors.

The following areas will be examined: data management, operating systems, import data, imported data editing, sketching, part modeling, configurations (iParts), sheet metal, surface modeling, tools for creating components like bolts and gears, simulation, generative design and lightweighting, assembly modeling, and large assemblies-capacity, drawings, exploded views, rendering, CAM/CNC, and software update cycles.

As more multiaxis machine tools are adopted into production, there is sometimes a disconnect between what is happening in the CAM software and the G-code results and how that affects machine behavior. This session is designed to provide clarity in understanding various programming concepts that not only make programming more simplified, but, more importantly, demystify the resultant code produced from CAM software—whether the application is a 4- or 5-axis milling machine, a multifunction lathe with live tooling, or even Swiss-style machines.
