To move past the basics of Vault software into the area of drawing revisions, approvals, security, and advanced property management, you need to deal with lifecycles. In this class, we’ll look at Vault lifecycles. We’ll configure lifecycles and discuss how they’re used in the revision process and how they set the rules for state changes. As a cherry on top, we’ll dive into setting up Vault to generate PDFs at various steps along the process.

Vault product data management (PDM) software helps designers and engineers better organise design data, enhance documentation management, and streamline revision processes of their product data. Product data is not exclusively used by development teams, but should also be available outside the engineering department. On the other hand, the engineers require data from upstream processes such as sales orders and specifications. And that's where a product lifecycle management (PLM) system like Fusion Lifecycle software comes into the play. Fusion Lifecycle serves as a company-wide information source for activities before, during, and after development actions, supported by automated processes. In this class, we will have a look at how both worlds (PDM and PLM) can be tied together to streamline the workflows throughout the whole product development cycle.

The presentation will contain a small description of overall usage in GEA and the standardization we are trying to achieve; but the larger part of the presentation will be about how our department uses iLogic, iParts, and iAssemblies to automate our designs to drastically reduce both engineering hours and the chance of errors. We’ll show some of our automated designs and share some of the iLogic we used to do this.

Cheaper? Faster? Better? Pick two? Why, when you can have all three?! When planning to tie processes and data sources together, there’s no better option than using Autodesk Fusion 360 Manage software and Vault Pro software to put them all in one place. This class will showcase the journey of a mid-size company that had the audacity to create a global solution to unite resources and projects in that one instance on a global scale. We’ll walk through the steps and missteps along the way, and cover what to look out for on your journey.

You just found out that your Vault Workgroup is getting upgraded to Vault Professional. What does that mean? Learn about all the shiny new tools you now have access to, and see how to use them.

Autodesk Fusion 360 software has rapidly arrived in deeply integrated Vault and Inventor enterprise environments. Entire departments and suppliers often strategically align their complete designs in Autodesk Fusion 360. The new challenge for CAD managers is to find ways to integrate Autodesk Fusion 360 data into Inventor data managed in Vault Professional software. This class will focus on collaborative ways to complement Vault-managed Inventor data sets with Autodesk Fusion 360 designs. Given the growing Autodesk Fusion 360 usage and the existence of complex Fusion data sets, we’ll also cover the Inventor integration into Autodesk Fusion 360.

Both Vault Professional software and Fusion 360 Manage software enable you to delegate, track, and manage your data changes. While Vault Professional focuses on CAD-related changes, Fusion 360 Manage enables you to manage any data stored in the application. With powerPLM, COOLORANGE offers an easy-to-use and flexible tool to combine Fusion 360 Manage and Vault Professional processes. This class demonstrates how to use powerPLM to synchronize CAD design changes between Fusion 360 Manage and Vault Professional.

Vault Professional software is a powerful tool for data management, relying heavily on meta (property) data. Do you know how to access them? Where you can access them? How to create mappings to your CAD files? And how to use this information not only in Vault Professional, but on your CAD files themselves? See examples from the speaker’s own Vault Professional setup to learn about the power of property data, how to use it, and how to share it.

Wait, what? You can create a bill of materials (BOM) in AutoCAD software? In this class, we’ll explore the options for creating a BOM in AutoCAD and the embedded tools within AutoCAD Mechanical software. We'll export the BOM both manually and automatically. We'll check in the drawing to Vault Professional software, and use Vault software's tools to manage and manipulate the BOM. Then we'll explore our options for sharing the BOM with ERP (enterprise resource planning), Autodesk PLM 360 software, Microsoft SharePoint, and other systems.

Do you have challenges managing data while working in project teams? Are your projects teams spread out geographically? Are you constantly emailing drawing files to project team members? If so, then this class is for you. During this session we will dig into the tools and explore tips and techniques that will enable you to successfully implement Vault Professional software to manage the project delivery process. We will pay special attention to categories, lifecycles, and revision schemes, as well as to methods for effectively collaborating with external partners.

Do you find yourself fighting with large or very large assembly files? This class will build on the previous Autodesk University classes (“CADZilla” and “CADZilla Jr.”) and we will cover best practices in opening/closing large assemblies, related drawings, tips and tricks on settings, and processes that will make you victorious over these monster-sized files. There’s been such interest in this class and subject matter that the speaker wanted to offer it yet again with the updates provided by the 2020 release, as well as giving those who couldn’t make the previous classes a chance to attend this one.

At Autodesk University 2015, the combined use of the Vault API and the Forge Viewer API was first demonstrated. This class continues on that path and showcases the use of the Vault API and Forge Design Automation for Inventor software to programmatically modify Inventor files that reside within Vault software. We will see how to check out a file from Vault and modify the file using Design Automation for Inventor, eliminating the need for a local install of Inventor and its dependent licenses. Post modification, we’ll check the updated file back into Vault, creating a new version and maintaining file history.

This course will examine how to create custom Vault reports from user templates. Sometimes we need to modify existing Vault reports to user/company needs. This modification may range from something as simple as jazzing the report up with the company header to the more complex task of specializing with multifiltered tables and a detailed header with Vault metadata shown. All of this is possible with Vault reporting and Visual Studio 2015 software. You don't have to be a programmer to make these changes and to wow your company with professional report features in Vault.

Bills of materials (BOMs) serve several purposes throughout a product lifecycle. While BOM data is usually created by CAD designers and managed in product data management (PDM) systems such as Vault software, it also needs to be shared with departments outside engineering where BOM information is used for production planning, assembling, or purchasing. Each of these steps requires a different view of the same BOM. Sometimes BOMs even need to be extended with information such as "work stages" or "work orders.” Sharing and enriching BOM information is usually done in systems other than Vault, such as Fusion 360 Manage or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. This class will explore bills of materials and their different uses. We'll showcase different ways to share BOM data among product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, PDM systems, and ERP systems. And we’ll analyze the available APIs to help you implement BOM workflows among Vault Professional (PDM), Fusion 360 Manage (PLM), and ERP systems.

While Vault Professional software has many out-of-the-box features that meet most organizations’ needs, there are sometimes circumstances that require a more complex implementation. Join us as we review three implementations that required custom solutions to meet each organization’s needs. These solutions used everything from Data Standard to powerJobs to powerGate to deliver a robust solution. Each implementation brought with it its own challenges and complexities to overcome. But in the end, each organization saw benefits of implementing these advanced solutions. In this class, we’ll review the questions that needed to be asked in order to see these projects through to success. We’ll highlight the similarities and differences of each project, review any lessons learned, and provide best-practice recommendations.

Elevating the digital maturity of our clients' factories, we aim to transform traditional manufacturing practices by transitioning from outdated paper-based drawings to the powerful concept of the Digital Prototyping. We start by scanning the facility to generate a 3D point cloud, which forms the base for architectural and MEP models in Revit software. These are imported into Inventor software, where we design and optimize the production line with machinery, conveyors, and robots. Factory Design Utilities software allows us to quickly build detailed layouts. With Navisworks software, we perform clash detection and offer virtual reality (VR) walk-throughs. FlexSim simulates the workflow to ensure efficiency. For data management, we use Vault Pro software and Autodesk Forma, while Autodesk Tandem software improves operations. This journey helps clients move beyond outdated systems and embrace the Digital Prototyping and Digital Prototyping.

This class will showcase groundbreaking advancements in the engineering process and project execution achieved through the seamless integration of Autodesk tools. Discover how our innovative approach utilizes Autodesk Inventor and Vault for factories and process plants, empowering users to select and automatically convert Inventor models into Navisworks for seamless integration into Forma (B360) projects.
