DogBot and the Possibilities for Autonomous Construction
With intelligent robotics and AI-driven analysis and insight, the construction site can become a self-monitoring, self-regulating system. Greg Epps explains.
Leading construction companies in the UK have a profit margin of less than 1%. Where do those profits go? 21% of them go to rework on-site. That’s in part because, using traditional construction processes, architects, contractors, subcontractors, engineers, and workers all have different goals and different views of what’s happening. Errors are accepted as a part of the process. React Robotics is developing robotic systems with advanced sensors and AI-driven control systems that can navigate the complex and dangerous world of the construction site autonomously. Greg Epps introduces us to DogBot, the first product from React Robotics, a quadruped that can move over almost any kind of terrain, and shares how it may one day enable an autonomous building site that can monitor and regulate itself without outside input day to day.
