Leveraging Generative Design technology to enhance product design for manufacturing
Generative design is a hot topic, but existing manufacturing methods like casting and injection molding seem to be hiding behind the curtains. This presentation will focus less so on additive manufacturing and more so on mass manufacturing methods currently being used industry wide. By leveraging existing generative design technology with casting and injection molding best practices, we can re-shape how current product design for manufacturing workflows can be achieved. By demonstrating the capabilities of new generative design technology, this talk will expose the new feature enhancements showcasing a realistic approach to the manufacturing and product design world which can be implemented into product design and manufacturing workflows today.

Electromechanical Product Design Reimagined
During Autodesk University 2021, we shared a developed workflow for how designers can bring data together through designing the part, the PCB (printed circuit board), and even how to manufacture the plastic components. With the complexity of electronic part designs, there are often various aspects that we need to consider in order for the part to both work and perform as expected. In this class, we’ll demonstrate how the Autodesk Fusion 360 workflow has matured to incorporate mechanical engineering aspects to smooth this product design workflow. We’ll use a sample product, the Autodesk University Digital Badge, to demo how to integrate mechanical design requirements and simulation into the product design process.

Addressing Sustainability in Product Design and Engineering

From Art to Part—Plastic Part Design with Product Design Suite
Do you need to take a concept and make it a reality? Does that reality include injection-molded parts? Do you need to get your design reviewed and approved quickly? If the answer to even 2 out of 3 of these questions is "yes," you should attend this class. We will also look at answers to these questions, and at an even more important question: How can we make changes on an overall assembly's shape while still developing individual piece details? A Practical Guide for Generative Design in Product and Industrial Design

Generative design is a powerful tool that requires technical knowledge that doesn’t necessarily align with how designers work. This class will explore four key strategies for integrating generative design into product and industrial design: 1) Understanding best practices for setting up a generative design study, and determining how much modeling work is needed prior to running the study. 2) Obtaining outcomes that align with the design’s original vision. It’s common to see designers grow frustrated as they run several studies that create shapes that are unusable as actual components of a product. 3) Understanding in practical terms details related to forces, constraints, and other technical information that is not commonly used in product design, and that might affect the effectiveness of the generative outcomes. 4) Understanding how to best merge generative design geometry with other components that have been modeled directly in Fusion 360 software.
