Introduced at Autodesk University 2019, Construction Cloud brings together the most powerful portfolio of construction management software products in the industry, supporting workflows spanning all phases of construction—from design, to planning, to building, to operations. There is tremendous breadth of supported workflows, depth of capabilities in each of the software products, and connectivity of data between those products. Over the past year, Autodesk has focused on three main areas of advancement with Construction Cloud: continuing investment into improving Assemble, BuildingConnected, PlanGrid, and BIM 360 software; delivering more integrations and connectivity between the products; and building a unified platform. This class will show how Construction Cloud has advanced over the course of the last 12 months, and we’ll explore the workflows from design through operations that can be supported by the products.

Construction Cloud is today being used across a large range of projects globally. This session will demonstrate a number of use cases, including how PlanGrid is helping build and maintain railways, Assemble is being used to quantify materials in dams, BuildingConnected is being used to source subcontractors for road projects, and BIM 360 software is being used to manage complex infrastructure projects. We will also show how Autodesk partners are being used in conjunction with Construction Cloud products to help infrastructure asset owners better use the data collected on a project.

Autodesk Construction Cloud has been used primarily for collaboration and connectivity of Revit projects. While the Civil 3D-using industry still relies on other methods for storing project files, Autodesk Construction Cloud offers faster and more efficient working experiences by allowing you to download only the files you need and providing the latest files to collaborators. Autodesk Construction Cloud is beneficial for large-scale projects involving multiple firms, but even our small to mid-size land development projects at Kimley-Horn have found value in using Autodesk Construction Cloud. Transitioning your AutoCAD/Civil 3D projects to the Autodesk Construction Cloud platform can seem overwhelming, especially for small to mid-sized companies. In this case study, we’ll explore how Crozier Consultant Engineers successfully migrated both new and existing projects to Autodesk Construction Cloud (Autodesk Docs, Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro). For many companies, shifting from a Windows-based file system to Autodesk Docs is a relatively new experience. We'll examine the benefits of working in a cloud environment, and the challenges of moving existing projects to the cloud. Additionally, we'll explore best practices for this transition and the tools that can facilitate the process.

The introduction of Autodesk Construction Cloud as a project platform for engineering companies has often been the subject of presentations. We at DB Engineering & Consulting—the international engineering and consulting company of Deutsche Bahn—have a special challenge: We've been using Vault software for 10 years with about 2,500 users. With this high standard in CAD data management, a migration to Autodesk Construction Cloud is particularly challenging but necessary, due to the increasing percentage of building information modeling (BIM) methodology being used in our projects. In our session, we will outline how we plan to migrate from Vault to Autodesk Construction Cloud in two stages: First, we'll use Autodesk Construction Cloud for Revit modeling while CAD drawings remain in Vault. During the second stage, we'll also transfer the CAD part to Autodesk Construction Cloud. We'll share our solutions to address Autodesk Construction Cloud drawbacks for draftspersons, ensuring even Vault experts can adapt.

We will describe the improvements made this year through the adoption of the Build module including the PlanGrid Build mobile app for field workers. We’ve been widely extending the use of Construction Cloud with digitalization of other construction processes in addition of those already implemented. We are focusing our attention on setting up a workflow for safety and environmental check in the work site.Using Forge and Construction Cloud Connect, we are developing integration with other company database and Legacy IT systems, to avoid data redundancy and to build up integrated dashboards. In upcoming years we will be able to manage and improve the construction process of linear infrastructure projects with ConstructionCloud in order to improve data quality, reduce costs and time by 60%, reduce wastefulness and promote sustainability
