Public services englobe many different areas of action that must offer efficient services for citizens without wasting money. Therefore, tasks that involve construction, and their maintenance, might need a special approach, as usually a lot of money is required. We will explain how we changed methods and even cultural patterns to keep buildings in a highly useful condition and reach low or better-planned costs. Our case study documents an existing building that was not built by any governmental institution; as a result, no technical documentation or registers of the construction were found. The challenge of our study is decoding the existing construction and its installations—and how it has been used and damaged over time—by using Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection tools. As the technical team searches for hidden details on the construction, to collect data on the building, we can improve our work strategy in a collaborative environment and have more-effective results for management decisions.

Quantify and present design options by importing a FormIt Pro massing model into Revit software to quickly document space-planning and feasibility studies. Present real-time visualizations to clients by importing a more detailed FormIt Pro model into Revit for a walk-through, and continue to detail and document the design in Revit.

With the integration of all these programs, the project was able to succeed as planned, utilizing found vehicle and building clearances as well as logistical confirmation of the project's ability to succeed. This class will demonstrate the effectiveness of the AEC Collection as well as the virtual design and construction (VDC) methodology.

Once at scale, many companies will likely opt for a partner product designed especially for this entire workflow. But it's crucial to get buy-in before making this investment. At BL Harbert International, we found that the best way to accomplish this is by providing concrete examples throughout the company of useful applications on our own projects. To achieve that, we've used several tools already at our disposal in AEC Collection and Autodesk Construction Cloud. This class will step through a workflow of processing imagery in ReCap Photo, then analyzing in either AutoCAD software or Civil 3D software, and finally sharing with stakeholders and making annotations in BIM 360 software or Autodesk Build software.

This class is the next level up from the “Structural Design to Fabrication: Revit and Advance Steel—Buddies for Life” class at Autodesk University 2020. Once you have designed, simulated, and generated the fabrication drawings, the next step is making them available to the field teams. On top of that, tracking the changes and ensuring the site teams have access to the latest documentation is one of the main challenges. This class will focus on the various office-to-field workflows you can use to share the latest and greatest structural BIM (Building Information Modeling) data and fabrication drawings with the extended teams in the field. You will learn about the Autodesk Docs workflows that come in the Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection that you can use to share and compare different versions of structural BIM data and fabrication drawings for effective decision-making processes in the field. This class will also cover the process of creating and managing issues related to structural field workflows.

This class will provide a modern perspective of legacy workflows that still are crucial parts of day-to-day civil/survey consulting processes, proposals, and workflows. This session will cover a case study of BIM (Building Information Modeling) implementation for a complex urban project designed as a smart city. The 126-hectare project is called Garonne Eiffel, and sits in a large development area in Bordeaux, France. The heart of Garonne Eiffel is the Belvedere subdistrict, a 12-hectare (30 acre) area. BIM has been implemented on the Belvedere project, which is the first key step for a future smart city. We will present the project with its specific challenges (urban density, collaboration, technical complexity). We will discuss the BIM strategy applied, including good and not so good aspects. We will describe the workflows created with the Architecture, Engineering & Construction Collection to show how InfraWorks software, Civil 3D software, Revit software, and Navisworks software are key tools to urban design. We’ll show how we used InfraWorks to assemble Civil 3D modelization for the Belvedere project: buildings, roads, trees, and street equipment. And, we’ll show how Dynamo helped us improve our productivity.
