Our team created a digital twin of retail store located in the shopping mall complex using Autodesk Tandem software–reducing missed inspection time by 90% By combining laser scanning, intelligent modeling, and asset element and IoT sensor data in Tandem extended through our mobile app, we empower plant management to monitor assets and make more-informed business decisions. Dawood integrated our native mobile application—built with Flutter, Supabase, and BuildShip—to record equipment inspections. Elements are tagged with QR codes, enabling rapid information access. This allows for data exchange between the mobile app and digital twin using the Tandem API—making it the single source of truth. This allows on-site engineers to access information on the go to complete daily inspections and send inspection data to the digital twin so that management can assess and respond to events in real time. Automated reminders reduce incidents.

Pathology registration and management has been implemented using Autodesk Forma, streamlining our data management process, and ensuring optimal efficiency. We have also developed a bespoke visualization environment using Autodesk Platform Services, which has provided us with a comprehensive platform to analyze and interpret our data. In 2018, Italian Railways launched a project to help its 630 stations meet sustainable management standards, leading to savings in water and energy use. FSTechnology, a division of Italian Railways, integrated Esri and Autodesk software to improve workflows for survey, design, and maintenance of its railway stations. Interoperability between Autodesk Forma, Civil 3D, and Esri ArcGIS enables a digital twin of the entire network. A GIS web app of the whole Italian network, including every site and station, was developed to monitor the status of the entire system. An interactive dashboard allows the management team to keep an eye on the KPI and take action whenever needed. FSTechnology is currently working to include Autodesk Tandem in the workflow to collect data from IoT devices, such as meters or sensors.

For building owners, Building Ops helps them begin operations on day one and better meet the needs of their mobile workforce. Interest in the Internet of Things (IoT) continues to grow as governments, companies and individuals begin to realize the potential that a data-driven world has to offer. This talk explores how the construction industry can use the data it collects via tools like BIM and sensors to feed into the wider IoT agenda and the benefits this could bring. We will discuss how we can utilise the data we collect for a variety of purposes including benchmarking and continuous improvement, while also considering how we can combine our data with data sets from other sectors to create greater insights for the industry, client, and end user. Finally, we will look at how we can manage some of the challenges of being a data-driven industry including data management and storage, pain/gain share, ethical considerations, and the need to recruit staff with different skill sets.

Digital twins can serve as a shadow representation of your assets—be it a building information modeling (BIM) corpus, CAD models of a facility, the equipment instruction manuals, or the interconnect between the systems. Adding sensors to these shadow representations allows for real-time tracking, evaluation, and prediction of facility and asset performance. In this presentation, we will introduce you to our digital twin platform called Autodesk Tandem and its new API. Following that, we will guide you through the process of developing your first digital twin, using the Autodesk Tandem APIs.
