Railway projects include many disciplines: rail superstructure, civil works, tunnels, viaducts, road bridges, culverts, systems, and so on. In large-scale international projects, many parties are involved in the design and construction process. And the integration of all information in Construction Cloud coming from different tools—such as InfraWorks, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks Manage, and Twinmotion—enables the full BIM methodology implementation on a railway project. Autodesk tools also allow stakeholders to manage the project in the real geographical context, and to facilitate the production of photorealistic videos and virtual reality (VR) experiences for stakeholder engagement.

Bridge construction in Norway in 2024 is a different ballgame than it was in 2015. We've transitioned to full digital design and construction without drawings. This would have been impossible without a rich Revit API. We've created our own add-in, scaling from 10 users in 2019 to 1,300 users in 2024. What a success! Unfortunately, a digital twin (DT) is often presented as a monolith. This results in organizations abandoning DTs as having benefits that are minimal or unrealized in time. This session will summarize a journey that Argonne National Laboratory and Implexus Lab made to digitize the Mechanisms Engineering Test Loop (METL), a test facility for advancing sodium fast reactors. Components were designed with Inventor software and assembled in Navisworks software, and AutoCAD software generated construction documents. Integrating with Revit provided a DT foundation. Ultimately, the suite of Autodesk tools enabled the creation of a DT boasting live data visualization within a virtual reality (VR) environment.

Virtual reality (VR) is often used as a tool to present a visualization of the final situation to a project team or the client. Within Dura Vermeer, however, VR is also used in another way: to hold virtual safety sessions. After all, in VR it is actually possible to "experience" an unsafe situation on the construction site. Based on the 4D model—which includes equipment, temporary situations, safety zones, and work zones—an export is made to VR. The foreperson and safety personnel use this VR model during a virtual safety session to investigate whether the project can be built safely. During this industry talk, we'll take you through Dura Vermeer's current processes for creating a VR model, and show you how we use VR to test whether we can construct a project safely. In addition, Dura Vermeer will be joined by a representative of Autodesk's XR team to discuss how Autodesk Workshop XR software is streamlining workflows and advancing this use case on active projects.

VINCI—a world leader in concessions, energy, and construction—has been using Autodesk software to help streamline its operations and drive its international expansion. With a platform approach, Revit customizations, and building information modeling (BIM) as a standard practice, VINCI has achieved significant time savings of more than 30,000 hours annually, and captured more business abroad. In Q4, VINCI renewed its fourth Enterprise Business Agreement (EBA) with Autodesk, expanding deployment of Autodesk Construction Cloud on major projects to further integrate data and workflows and ensure a seamless transition from design through construction. Together, the VINCI BIM team and the Autodesk Consulting team improved use of these tools by implementing and improving processes and creating customized plug-ins. The latter allow us to match all needs inside our company, which has lots of different disciplines and as many demands.

However, constructing desalination plants traditionally consumes high energy and impacts the environment. A new metro Line, with 19 kilometers and encompassing 15 stations, a maintenance yard, and 2 primary substations, represents a landmark achievement in utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM). A large-scale infrastructure project has set a new benchmark for the industry by implementing a comprehensive BIM (Building Information Modeling) approach, encompassing all disciplines, including geotechnical engineering and laser scanning for connection stations with existing lines. The project has also standardized data using IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) and introduced a new standard for contractual items, including a new contractual measurement method. Automated analyses have been integrated into robotic processes, and a train dynamic models to ensure equipment installations has been utilized and with data management. These innovations have significantly enhanced project quality and established the project as a national reference.
