The Forge Reality Capture API can help with that task. The Forge Reality Capture API covers the photogrammetry workflow. In this class, we will cover how to build a mobile app that lets you select images on your smartphone to create a photoscene that can be submitted to the Reality Capture API for processing and viewing the resulting 3D mesh model in the Forge Viewer on your mobile phone.

Is this the end of the proprietary file format? The Forge Platform Model Derivative API enables you to easily translate your design files to different formats, and extract data from those files for use almost anywhere. In this class, we will introduce these APIs by walking you through a series of sample code demonstrations. This session features Forge and Fusion 360.

InsiteVR brings VR collaboration to the AEC industry. Teams already using BIM 360 can extend their workflow into collaborative VR by accessing the latest models, reviewing them and adding BIM 360 issues directly within VR headsets. InsiteVR leveraged Forge APIs and the Unity game engine to bring the power of BIM 360 collaboration onto groundbreaking new hardware, Oculus Quest. This class will discuss techniques used to view large scenes on Quest VR hardware for a delightful user experience. The class also discusses how the "View in VR" button was added directly inside the BIM 360 web viewer. InsiteVR will also showcase a few customer success stories using the BIM 360 integration. Attendees will participate in a live demo of a live multi-user VR meeting using the latest standalone VR hardware.

The class will cover the use of BIM 360 and Beck Technology’s DESTINI Estimator integration. We will explore how this integration came to be and why it is important for collaborative project teams. We will show how to connect to BIM 360 models from within the Estimator platform and perform 3D quantity takeoff for an estimate. We will show the tools’ use on real-world projects and showcase future developments of the integration by using the Forge development platform.

The Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) is an innovative methodology that, even if in the early stages, has already become an industry best practice. This class will present how AWP coupled with an Autodesk delivery platform (Navisworks software, BIM 360 software, Forge, and so on) is closing the gaps between engineering, procurement processes, and construction priorities with the goal of making engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects truly construction driven. We will showcase a real, large, industrial project to explain main strategies for managing models, integrating data, and monitoring status using visualization.

Bergen Light Rail in Norway is one of the largest infrastructure projects in northern Europe. It’s the largest project in Sweco’s history, which means all hands on deck. With more than 500 people from 30 disciplines across 20 offices in 6 countries, this model-based project needed a new way of cooperating and communicating. By implementing a solution that brings together Jira, Navisworks software, and a web application that uses the power of Forge, all stakeholders can now view, create, and manage issues from within the intelligent model. Currently more than 6,000 issues have been created and are maintained for this project alone. Discover how daily updated models in Navisworks and the web application save countless hours and drastically improve the design process as everyone in the project always has access to the same information wherever they’re located. The class will cover how all stakeholders have web access to intelligent models and issues related to them.

This class describes how Camargo Corrêa Infra, one of the largest Brazilian construction companies, integrated its BIM 360 hub to Microsoft Power BI, through Forge APIs, to create dynamic graphs to monitor field information (issues and checklists). The traditional process uses paper-based forms to register the checklists and issues, which are later digitized into spreadsheets so the necessary analysis can run. With the use of BIM 360 software, despite the digitalization happening on the source input, the data visualization doesn’t meet the requirements of all the stakeholders. On this scenario, we’ve developed an integration of BIM 360 with Power BI for the creation of dynamic customizable dashboards, getting real-time BIM 360 data from the field to the office. The class will approach the system architecture necessary for this integration, and useful tips and tools to better understand and visualize data from BIM 360, even for people who aren’t programmers.

"Forge brings data at the center, enabling discipline leads and designers to manage and modify data in the cloud - within a common data environment. This class will show how to break down silos of a traditional MEP design process with static, disconnected and unstructured data that leads to inconsistent models. This is replaced by an agile design process using a web-based Forge application, which enables MEP designers to read, add and modify design specification data for MEP objects directly from the browser into BIM 360 models. Also, this class will show how MEP specification lists can be auto-generated using BIM 360, Forge APIs, and Microsoft Azure SQL database. This brings MEP designers, BIM drafters and other stakeholders together into the same ecosystem—making it easier for everyone to create a structured data model without the need for advanced skills with BIM tools such as Revit."

These words from the speaker’s leadership hit home when first heard as a young virtual design and construction (VDC) engineer after grinding through the first coordination project. After hitting road blocks with communicating issues in the coordination process, losing information in too many repositories, wasting time running back and forth to the trailer, and not having the data to learn what to do different, the speaker and team have created smarter workflows and processes to better plan, do, check, and perform their efforts.

Autodesk Research's Project Dasher is a building performance management tool that displays historical and real-time sensor data inside a building model. In this session, we'll take a close look at how Forge software was used to implement a Dasher 360 project, leading to a multi-year desktop development project being largely re-created for the web in a matter of months. We'll pay particular attention to the techniques used to contextualize sensor data within intelligent models displayed via the web, explaining the implementation details of reusable Forge Viewer extensions created using JavaScript application programming interface and TypeScript.

This class will present how project teams can collaborate to develop information on a BIM project. We will initially look at setting up a plan of work to give clarity on which team members are delivering what information and when. Following this we will look at how designers can develop their designs using standardised BIM objects in Revit. Practical examples will then be given on how to link these objects digitally to the associated specification to better coordinate this information and reduce risk. We will finish by exploring the role of the cloud and big data in future workflows and show practical examples of how the Forge platform can accelerate this. Stephen was part of the team that developed the UK government’s BIM Level 2 standards and tools. As director of research and innovation at NBS, he has been fundamental in developing the products that led to NBS being the first UK Autodesk Solution Associate in 2016.

This class will provide an introduction to building integrations with the Forge platform using standard integration patterns in Mulesoft. Mulesoft is a lightweight event-driven Enterprise Service Bus that provides a robust encapsulation of the core integration patterns as described in the popular book Enterprise Integration Patterns by Hohpe and Woolf. We will demonstrate a custom Forge Anypoint connector built on the Mulesoft integration platform that allows for easy access to the capabilities provided by the Forge platform. Using this connector, Forge functions can be accessed directly from the business process flow editor in Mulesoft. We will go over how businesses can leverage this connector to build repeatable integration solutions using Forge and other enterprise applications. The class will provide a technical demo of a business process orchestration connecting a Force.com application and Netsuite with Forge. By using the Mule ESB for Forge integrations, enterprises can benefit by using standard canonical models to interface with multiple systems as well as leverage common enterprise services for monitoring and security.
