In this technical instruction session, we’ll explore how integrating Datum360 with InfoAsset Manager and hydraulic modeling tools like InfoWorks ICM and InfoWorks WS Pro software can establish a single source of truth for utility asset data. This session will walk through the architecture of a live integration pipeline—connecting BIM updates to hydraulic models in near real time. When a designer updates a pipe diameter in an intelligent model, the change is registered in Datum360 using a unique asset ID. From there, data flows to InfoAsset Manager using the Ruby Exchange API. It is finally synchronized with InfoWorks ICM or InfoWorks WS Pro. The result is a continuously accurate, up-to-date hydraulic model that utility owners can rely on—without time-consuming manual data entry. This connected workflow enables faster updates, better decision making, and significant operational savings.

The cities of Fargo, ND, and Moorhead, MN, are divided by the Red River of the North because of major yearly flooding. To address this, a new six-mile earthen levee system that includes five separate interior drainage systems, five 100-year regional storm water retention basins, and five 5,000 GPM storm water pumping stations was designed. Due to the large scale of project and the issues that arose, Ulteig Engineers asked for the assistance of their current reseller, Managed Design. The issues pertaining to this project were file size, slow drawings, and issues around being able to have more team members help with the project. Managed Design was hired to come in during the project to help identify bottlenecks in the process. What will be shown and discussed are the results and the final product of implementing both composite surfaces and data shortcuts into their design process. You will be able to ask your questions to both the prime civil tech designer on the project and the corresponding application engineer from Managed Design.

Water infrastructure owners and operators face poor asset information handover due to system misalignment. Could automation and integrated data enable Digital Workplaces to support operational efficiency, reduce rework and costs, and improve health and safety (H&S)? Learn how GHD successfully used client-focused data exchange and cloud collaboration during the 40MLD upgrade of Wellington Water Limited’s Te Mārua water treatment plant to ease these struggles. Automating the integration of asset information using Autodesk products enabled delivery of the asset register 12 months early—saving NZ$150,000 and 1,400 hours in asset data management. Combining Esri mobile apps and dashboards enhanced as-built quality and reduced site H&S risks. A proof of concept was developed where GeoBIM and Docs software were fused to create a geospatial common data environment (CDE)—the foundation for an operations and maintenance Digital Workplace. We’ll share valuable lessons on managing evolving data needs and supply chains to demonstrate how connected workflows made more efficient.

The Tokaido Shinkansen high-speed Japanese rail line excels globally in safety, punctuality, and frequency. This project aims to transform infrastructure maintenance using BIM. Although Japan rail owners are adopting BIM, efforts remain siloed across teams and lack integrated optimization. Rail maintenance requires ongoing inspection, diagnosis, action, and documentation. Seamless data handover is essential to reducing lifecycle costs, but information often stays locked in noninteroperable systems. JR Central addressed this by piloting a common data environment and object library for embankments, following ISO 19650-based information management. Interoperability was ensured through openBIM standards such as Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) and bSDD (buildingSMART Data Dictionary), which unify object definitions and data formats. Revit and Construction Cloud, powerful BIM tools, were also adopted to enhance authoring consistency and collaborative workflows. This initiative unlocks a new era in infrastructure maintenance—firmly grounded in interoperability.

The increasing accessibility of advanced reality capture devices—such as photogrammetry and SLAM LiDAR technology—offers an unprecedented opportunity for AECO professionals to accurately capture detailed and extensive site details. Integrating these technologies into your workflows can dramatically enhance documentation at various construction stages, improve coordination among stakeholders, and provide timely and transparent as-built information. This case study will demonstrate how to effectively use these advanced technologies (SLAM point clouds and 3D gaussian splatting) to enrich civil infrastructure workflows with Autodesk tools like Civil 3D, ReCap, InfraWorks, Revit, and Construction Cloud.

Railway projects include many disciplines: rail superstructure, civil works, tunnels, viaducts, road bridges, culverts, systems, and so on. In large-scale international projects, many parties are involved in the design and construction process. And the integration of all information in Construction Cloud coming from different tools—such as InfraWorks, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks Manage, and Twinmotion—enables the full BIM methodology implementation on a railway project. Autodesk tools also allow stakeholders to manage the project in the real geographical context, and to facilitate the production of photorealistic videos and virtual reality (VR) experiences for stakeholder engagement.

Grading parking lots incorporates complex design concepts and creative use of Civil 3D tools. Feature lines have always been the reliable standard, but recent additions to corridors make their inclusion a must. Through a combination of new features and solid workflows, we can now produce a faster, more dynamic process while still maintaining flexibility. We'll begin this class with a story of how Kimley-Horn and Autodesk collaborated to improve site design by improving how curbs are built using corridors. The ability to now create dozens of baselines and regions in a few clicks (along with other recent new features and conditional subassemblies) makes for a much faster workflow. We'll also give guidance on when to use corridors, feature lines, or both. We believe corridors for parking lot grading has finally arrived! In São Paulo, Brazil’s largest city, modeling underground infrastructure involves complex technical and data challenges. This case study will present the first Brazilian project to apply SCAN-2-BIM with IFC 4.3 interoperability in an active metro tunnel—part of the Line 2-Green extension, more than 40 meters deep. Reality capture was done entirely with terrestrial laser scanning (TLS). The point cloud was semantically classified and feature-extracted in ReCap software. Modeling was automated using Civil 3D software with Dynamo and Subassembly Composer, while coordination and export were handled via Navisworks and IFC 4.3 from Civil 3D. The team overcame issues of data volume, accuracy, and integration. This pioneering project also defined asset-agnostic workflows for SCAN-2-BIM in linear infrastructure—scalable and reusable across future projects.

Ground data is key to constructing safe, cost-effective, sustainable infrastructure. As an Autodesk strategic partner, Fugro developed GeoDin Ground app for Civil 3D software to transform infrastructure design by providing designers and civil engineers with contextual and comprehensive ground data through an integration with GeoDin, a leading geotechnical data management, analysis, and reporting software. The GeoDin Ground app allows designers to see into the ground. How does this work exactly? We’ll show and teach you all the major insights in this session. We’ll import geotechnical data directly into Civil 3D, visualize boreholes, and create surfaces and volumes with GeoDin Ground. Finally, we’ll analyze geotechnical data between surfaces and create volume reports. And we’ll demonstrate the benefits of visualizing and analyzing infrastructure in combination with ground layers. You’ll leave the session with a bigger picture of the impact of GeoDin Ground and a practical understanding of the app.

This session presents a real-world tunnel infrastructure project that leveraged parametric design to reduce construction risk and improve coordination. A parametric adaptive ring family, developed in collaboration with Autodesk, served as the base for a modular tunnel model in Revit. Using Dynamo, both primary and secondary structures were generated, and system layouts were added for space proofing. The model was then integrated into Construction Cloud to support cross-disciplinary collaboration between structure, MEP, and design teams. This connected workflow improved communication, reduced errors, and supported earlier decision-making. Attendees will discover a scalable strategy for managing complexity in linear infrastructure projects and see how parametric design helps create robust, coordinated models ready for execution.

This session will walk through how catchments or watersheds can be automatically generated using a surface model and assigned to drainage networks as part of a concept design in Civil 3D software. Ultimately, with the InfoDrainage/Civil 3D integration tool, we’ll see how we can bring all the data across to InfoDrainage and use its more extensive runoff routing methods and rainfall generation tools to set up and simulate hydrology and accurately size up the drainage network.
