This class aims to describe the existing systems that were in place, along with the issues that have arisen as a result of having incorrect geospatial data on buried utilities. We will then describe how we realized the solution to this problem using AIMS Technology, which we will host in a cloud environment utilizing mobile tools in the field to view and update incorrect data. We will also describe how we could use the power of the crowd to perform mass updates on these data sets and the enhancements we have planned to support the airport operation, linking it to third-party systems such as Maximo and making it an integral part of our resilience planning.

This class will explore a large-scale port/transportation project utilizing features in InfraWorks software along with AutoCAD Civil 3D software, AutoCAD software, and AutoCAD Map 3D software. Discover some key techniques to help guide you in transitioning from 2D conceptual planning to 3D and even 4D sequences. This course will cover a wide range of InfraWorks functions, such as creating custom "city furniture" from various sources; creating bridges, roads, and rail; randomizing data objects; running scripts; and, finally, creating project fly-throughs and renderings.

In this class, we’ll explore the creation of a custom ground coordinate system in Civil 3D software and AutoCAD Map 3D software. Currently, all coordinate systems that come with Civil 3D, AutoCAD Map 3D, and InfraWorks software are grid coordinate systems. With that said, we’ll create what’s called a low distortion projection (LDP). We’ll pick a mean elevation for this LDP, which will be our combined scale factor for this new ground coordinate system definition. Once this is defined, any and all data imported (GIS data, imagery) will now be transformed to your ground coordinate system. Your engineering clients will love you for doing this!

Point clouds can be a wealth of information for modeling and design projects, and the large data sets of point clouds can provide amazingly detailed models when viewed in InfraWorks software. But managing these data sets and importing the point clouds can be a challenge. And then, once you have the point cloud imported, what’s next? In this session, we will show how to create a model from scratch and how to import large point clouds and data sets. We’ll demonstrate a simple but effective method to manage large collections of point clouds when bringing them into InfraWorks, and then show how to use the point clouds to extract vertical features such as transformers, poles, and street furniture. This method can be employed for a variety of items, and then the features can be styled to reflect the goals for your 3D model. We will also walk through the process of creating a storyboard and a fly-through that will impress your stakeholders and provide detailed information in a visually informative model.

This class is all about combining the traditional software tools like AutoCAD Map 3D software, AutoCAD Civil 3D software, Revit software, Vehicle Tracking software, and Navisworks software with more recent technology like InfraWorks 360 software and ReCap 360 software in order to support the infrastructure construction process. The focus will be mainly on preliminary construction planning and visualization. We will also look at the capabilities of communicating information to the different stakeholders in the project. This session features InfraWorks 360 and AutoCAD Civil 3D.

This class will cover the results of a pilot project between Autodesk, Inc., and the City of Vancouver. The project used InfraWorks software as a platform for rapid energy modeling. Rapid energy modeling is an efficient simulation process used for working with minimal and, in many cases, already-available city building data to quickly generate energy assessments. The ability to visualize and analyze at a range of scales, from the block to the neighborhood, assists in developing strategies to achieve sustainability objectives. We will present the most successful workflows and interoperability workflows between InfraWorks software and other Autodesk tools and services. Equally important, we will review the role of InfraWorks software as a public-engagement tool for energy and built-form issues, presenting complex data and issues in an accessible environment.

Silos of data should be history, but integrating geographic information system (GIS) with 3D model-based design can be a real challenge. The ability to aggregate data and visualize multiple sources of information is crucial for decision making within municipal organizations. With ArcGIS Online and InfraWorks software, you have the edge: the cloud-based ability to easily aggregate personal, organizational, and public data previously locked in GIS files or servers. For urban development, environmental planning, or capital projects, this capacity can enhance the value of your GIS data to create rich 3D design models for critical infrastructure projects. In this session, we will demonstrate the use of InfraWorks software to aggregate ArcGIS Online. You will learn how to configure local GIS servers for ArcGIS Online access. We'll also show you how to configure ArcGIS orthophoto and terrain services for use in InfraWorks. Finally, we'll demonstrate the process using a specific road-design example from a large North American city.

Learn how to create intelligent data in AutoCAD Map 3D software, render it in 3D in InfraWorks software, and serve it up online with Infrastructure Map Server software. All 3 products follow the life span of building footprints and parcel fabric as the design goes from being basic polylines to intelligent 3D data-rich objects.

The course will cover the creation of a Construction Project utilizing as many Autodesk products as possible. We will start with InfraWorks 360 to demonstrate on the site selection, then utilize Map3D, Civil3D and Vehicle Tracking to build the infrastructure of the site. In parallel, we will demonstrate the use of Dynamo, Formit and Revit to build the Buildings and Structure of the site, and Plant3D, with Advance Steel to build the rest of the Plant. Also demonstrated will be Navisworks, BIM360 Glue and BIM360 Field to show a complete workflow of a project from initial concept phase to final project delivery and commissioning.

This class will be a 60-minute demonstration that uses 2 actual infrastructure projects as a backdrop showing the synergy between Civil 3D software and InfraWorks software while emphasizing using data from native Esri data sources that are needed from early stages to construction phase. The geographic information system (GIS) emphasis in the demonstration will cover traditional import, FDO connection, the display manager, and geodatabase support, but, more importantly, it will hone in on the new tools available in InfraWorks and Civil 3D as a result of the new partnership between Esri and Autodesk. In this class, the new technology will be applied to real-life project situations, including early predesign changes and challenges, with changing data during the project lifecycle. Project data for the projects will include reality capture, planimetrics, geotechnical, utilities, and transportation.

This class looks at the solutions, products, and workflows which enable critical business decisions to be made using real-time information, including the following: Airfield Maps—providing a standard view of the airfield; Community Relations—mapping noise-compensation schemes and vortex strikes; Engineering and Services—providing up-to-date, accurate information on the services of a mini-city; Operational Views—providing awareness of the operational status of the airfield to key internal and external stakeholders (Stand, Blocks; Aircraft Tracking, Vehicle Tracking, Active Works); Space Map Views —providing the terminal floor plans mapped against the space lease data; Service Clearance and Permits—enabling contractors to undertake works within a highly controlled environment; Winter Resilience—enabling critical decision making tools within times of severe operational impact due to adverse weather.
